Textual analysis of 'Kerrang'magazine

Kerrang is a modern day music magazine and focusses mainly on rock music. This magazine and aimed at people with an interest in this music genre and updates its readers with music and band information including latest gig dates and and short autobiographys.
From seeing the cover of this magazine it is clear that the main focus is going to be about the band 'biffy clyro'. There is a image of the band which takes up all of the background of the cover with headings and subheadings written over the image. Over the top of the magazine there is a advertisement saying 'Massive Download Ticket Give Away' this will draw the readers attention and make the reader want to buy this for the free tickets.
Near the bottom of the magazine there is an advertisement for free posters, this shows again that the magazine is good value for the money and shows that there is a lot included in the magazine.
The thing that stands out about the image of biffy clyro is the confused look on the main singers face, this is to emphasize the sub heading 'unfold the puzzle of life' the image portrays confused looks to represent puzzles and confusion.
At the bottom of the magazine cover there is abright red strip going horizontally al the way across, within this strip there is a longlist of 9 bands, this shows to the audience again that it is good value for money and includes a lot of information and updates.
The main colour themes on this cover are black and red, black is the dominating colour, this over all makes the magazine look dark, which also represents the type of music it is advertising. the fact that black is the dominating colour emphasizes the red, the reason some sub titles are highlighted red is because the red is a bright colour and stands out against the dark background.
Overall this magazine is well presented and achieves its goals in advertising its contents well.
