Textual analysis of 'Sports' magazine

Sports magazine is an American magazine, based on sports, i know that this magazine is well known by the fact that some of the title is covered including the subheading just below the main title.
This magazine is aimed at people who enjoy or maybe take up sport as a hobby, we can see that the main aim of this edition is baseball, i know this because of the large dominating image of 'Matt Holiday' playing baseball, so the reader can establish that baseball and Matt Holiday are going to be the main focus of this weeks edition. The image is so dominating that it covers half of the letters in the masthead. Not only is the image very large but another element that makes the image stand out even more and makes the cover more appealing in the contrast between the dark background and the bright white image of Matt Holiday. The majority of the main writing on this cover is bold and white, this is so it stands out from the darker background, this signifies the importance of these particular headlines and titles.

The main aspect of the dominating image that stands out to me is the serious look on matt holidays face, this signifys to the reader that this magazine is aimed at people who are serious about sports.

This magazine shows clearly the headlines of the magazine on both the top and middle of the cover. there are 5 different sub-headings, this will make he reader think that it is good value for money because of the amount of different stories there are. These sub headings are represented as pictures, this will not only show what type of stories these sub articles are by the expression on the celebrities faces, but also has a good visual effect and makes the magazine look more presentable and interesting. Also because of the fact that the magazine cover has lots of different headlines, the reader will immediately think that the magazine is packed full of interesting sports facts.
